Community grants launched to support education, resilience and innovation in the Pilbara

15 July 2024

Round two of the Pilbara Minerals Community Grants Program opened today with community groups in Port Hedland and surrounding communities eligible to apply for up to $10,000 in funding.

Designed to empower local groups that make a difference in their community, the grants program targets projects and events that will improve access to education, build healthy communities and enable the energy transition.

Pilbara Minerals Managing Director and CEO Dale Henderson said the Company was pleased to continue the annual grants round as part of its community investment framework.

“We invite applications for grants of up to $10,000 for community projects that align with our priority investment areas of education, community resilience and the energy transition,” Dale said.

“No-one knows what the community needs more than the people who live and work there and we’re looking forward to once again engaging with the people of Port Hedland and neighbouring communities to understand how Pilbara Minerals can help support the initiatives that matter most to them.

“We value the partnerships we have in the region and view this as one of the ways to give back and make a difference by contributing to the social and economic prosperity of the communities we are part of.”

The inaugural grants round, launched in October last year, successfully awarded more than $100,000 in funding across 12 organisations.

“Last year we funded a wide range of initiatives including junior soccer uniforms, system upgrades for primary schools and a youth mindfulness program,” Dale said.

“These grants are more than just money, they provide the leg up that organisations need to build a stronger, more resilient and healthy community.”

Applications for the Community Grants Program are now open and will close on 31 July 2024.

The program is part of Pilbara Minerals’ commitment to making a difference in the world and supports locally delivered projects and events in Port Hedland, Strelley, Yandeyarra and Pilbara-wide initiatives.
